Marijuana illegal search and seizure

The police were called to my condo about music being loud. Myself my girlfriend and my friend were present when I opened the door. The police asked if they could come in and I said no. They pushed there way in and started looking around while they told me to wait outside. They found paraphernalia and a small amount of pot. they took the paraphernalia and the pot and gave her a ticket for the pot only. they said they would return the paraphernalia if they received no complaints for a month. Was this legal. She had her medi marijuana card. It expired in November. she's having it renewed on Monday?
