Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
We've been married for a little over 2 months, haven't even had a chance to pick up a marriage liscence yet. We are in an overall happy relationship. Yesterday while we were walking to our 6 o clock class, we got in an argument over his mom not liking me. Things got a little out of hand, we started cussing at eachother and he grabbed me and kind of shook me. It didn't hurt or anything, I thought nothing of it. But apparently some janitor called the cops, and they arrested him and accused him of a misdemeanor, said it was "domestic violence." Isn't that going a little overboard? He's never been convicted of a crime before, he's a really nice guy. Granted he's got some anger issues because he has lived a pretty hard life, but jail? we both live very busy lives. I'm in school all day, he's at work from 7-4 and then school the rest of the day. he is also a member of the marine corps reserve, I don't have money to pay for a lawyer. I need legal advice..

You don't need a lawyer, he does. If he cannot afford an attorney, he needs to ask the court to appoint one for him.
