I am not at work but I can tell you that , as a misdemeanor, the charge of domestic violence holds up to 1 year in county jail. As a felony, I'm not sure if the max exposure is 3 or 4 or 5 years. You could look on the internet in the penal code for the precise answer if it is very important to know with more specificity. The above is without enhancements like, "great bodily injury" or with a weapon, like a knife or gun. The charge of domestic violence is a very serious charge and it should be taken seriously. Seek the advice of an experienced attorney if you do not already have one. Best wishes...David Wallin
