Misd. Battery and student visa

How might a conviction/guilty or no contest plea affect the status of a student visa (exchange student)?

This depends entirely on the nature of the plea you would take. For example, if you plead to PC 243(e)(1) domestic violence/battery this could have serious immigration consequences ending in deportation etc. Some pleas to battery or similar offenses might not have any immigration repercussions at all. You need to consult an attorney who is familiar with the whole field of immigration consequences of criminal convictions. Feel free to give me a call.
