The actual penalties you can expect will depend on the county in which you are charged. The max is 6 mos. jail and/or $1,000 fine.

Re: Misdemeanor Drinking in Public

If this is your first offense, it will be just a small fine for sure. However, you are talking about a misdemeanor which will stay on your criminal record forever. Consequences of having a conviction, in terms of looking for employment for example, have become more severe. I recommend retaining a lawyer to see whether you could beat the case or get it down to an infraction. If your record is otherwise clear, you should be able to get a good result.

Hire a lawyer to work on getting the charges reduced. The consequences of a misdemeanor conviction for public intoxication will depend on the county and your prior record.

Re: Misdemeanor Drinking in Public

A misdemeanor 647(f), drunk in public has the maximum penalty of 6 months in the county jail, a $1,000.00 fine, or both. The statutes do not indicate a minimum mandatory fine or jail sentence. So, 0-6 months in jail, $0.00-$1,000.00 fine, or both.

Good luck,

Elena
