Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
My Mother-in-Law is very ill both physically and mentally. She refuses to see a doctor for either issue. I f she dies at home, is my Father-inLaw criminally negligent?

He might already be in danger of elder neglect charges for failure to provide medical care for a dependent adult, even if she doesn't die.
Unfortunately, the symptoms of mental illness often include the inability to recognize one's need for help and distrust of the doctors who could provide it.
Your father in law should contact the office of the Public Guardian in his county. They can assist family members when a loved one refuses necessary medical attention.
