Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
Mug Shots
Are mug shots part of the public record? A local politician was arrested recently, and I want to post his mug shot on my blog. I've seen many mug shots online, but the D.A.'s office claims mug shots are not released to the public.

Re: Mug Shots
A request under the California Public Records Act (Government Code Sections 6250+) would be the way to go. Maybe your local newspaper reporter can help.
