Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

nude picture taking of 20 yr old granddaughter in spa

I have been searching for any law being broken by me taking a photo of my 20 year old granddaughter going nude in my backyard spa. I have read that female breasts have never been found to be ''private parts'' whose exposure are within the scope of P.C. 314.1. Her eighteen year old brother was in the spa, clothed. I was nearby in the yard when she took off her bathing suit. I asked if I could take a few photos and she said it would be okay. Photography is one of my hobbies and thought this would be nice to have her pose tastefully. No lust, no nothing. I believe state law has been stated that nude is not lewd. Just want to be sure that I haven't broken any law. Then again, I suppose I should have just let her enjoy the spa. Thank you.

I don't see anything illegal about what you describe. Your grandchildren are adults, so their ages are no problem. I can't imagine your photos would be considered obscene by local community standards; even if they could, I doubt you will get into any kind of trouble.

Merely being a dirty old man is not illegal.

Prudent photographers of nude consenting adults always ask for and obtain written permission, and they check ID.
