Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
Where and how do I obtain a copy of a search warrant?
The Sherriffs entered my house and said they had a search warrant to search the house to find my son. They did not show any papers to me. They went straight to the bedroom and looked under the mattress which they claim they found a counterfeit check. They arrested me for that check. My son is wanted by law enforcement and have had warrants before when they were actually looking for him. I need to know how to get a copy copy of the warrant they claim exists. If one does not exist how can I prove they did not have one? How can I get the public defender to check into the matter of the warrant? I know they see alot of "innocent" people that lie to them. I cannot afford a lawyer either, is it hopeless to fight it?

Whether or not you are telling the truth should not be an issue. The Public defender should get a copy of the warrant.
