Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
Help obtaining police records
How do I go about obtaining police records for a friend who is now incarcarated? Someone told me only immediate family members can get them. Is there any way around that? Thank you for your help.

Re: Help obtaining police records
Why do you need the records? Does your friend have a lawyer? Even immediate family members have a hard time getting records. You may want to hire an attorney for your friend if he does not have one. The attorney will get access to arrest records and police reports if needed.
