Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

My boyfrind is Hispanic and dose not have his papers he got caught with a fake green card and they told him he is looking up to a year to 5years in jail then they will send him bake to mexico.Theres no way he could stay here?Hes never been in trouble with the law he has a job he has been at for 4years and we are having a child togther.Hes a good man and a hard worker.
