Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Pardon procedure

how do I go about a pardon or a certificate of rehabilitation?? I have one H&S code felony conviction in 1987, and numerous misd. last one in 1992. I have 6 years clean, and the year 2000 will be 5 years from parole. I have never been convicted of a penal code violation, so no violence or theft, things of that nature. I want to begin the application or proceedings now and need to know what I'll need and how to go about it. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks

Re: Pardon procedure

Your task is time consuming but not complicated.

First get your section 1203.4 relief. The Clerk

at your courthouse will have a form. Then turn to

the index at the end of the penal code and see what

you do to ask for a Certificate of Rehab. When you

have that, put together your package for an

application for pardon. Think of yourself as a

product which needs a good brouchure. It's all in

the penal code. Although I have done these for

people, I have found that the time consumption makes

fees extraordinary when you can do much if not all

of it yourself.

Good luck
