Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

parents statute of limitations

I am a 16 year old girl from California who is currently in a relationship with a 20 year old guy. When i was 15 my mother found letters from my boyfriend that revealed to her we were sexually active. My question is how long does she have the power to put him in jail? i realize that i have until after i turn 18 at least, but does she have that power to put him in jail after i turn 18 as well? Also are these letters enough proof for a DA to have him put in jail? she has never actually caught us having sex.

Re: parents statute of limitations

Your mother does not have the power to put anyone in jail. She does have the power to complain to the police and or district attorney about his conduct. The statute of limitations will run one year after your 18th birthday.
