parking citation with no posted signs

I received a parking ticket for parking on the street between 2a.m. and 6 a.m. I was house sitting and did not know the city had an ordinance against such a thing. The curb is white and there are no signs, anywhere, indicating that such an ordinance is in existence. The ticket indicates that it is a municiple ordinance. I am aware of two cities (Beverly Hills and San Marino, Calif) that both have similar ordinances; however, the streets have signs indicating such. White curbs in CA normally mean there are no parking restricitons unless the restrictions are posted. Is there any case law that requires a municipality to post parking restricitons on the streets before issuing a citation for breaking an unposted restrcition. Thanks for the help

A large number of cities have no overnight parking restrictions. There will be signs posted on all major streets as you enter the city in question. They will not, however, be posted on every street. You may have success in disputing the ticket with your personal situation. Good luck with your quest.
