Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

PC 484 (a)

I was arrested for Petty theft 3 months back (PC 488) and the cop gave a ticket for misdemeanor (hired an attorney) and the court date is next week. Today i wasn't arrested, but given another citation for PC 484 (a). Does this affect the outcome of the first misdemeanor? What does having 2 misdemeanor violations on your record can do to you? Can i still get my record expunged?

Re: PC 484 (a)

Thank you for your inquiry. I'm sorry to hear you've been arrested twice in such a short time.

Your current attorney will want to coordinate the two cases you have. Are they pending in different courts? If so, you may be able to plead them on the same day, and both will be "first" time offenses. If not, then you can negotiate them as a package deal, and likely get less punishment than two separate cases. You may be able to get both expunged, but the fact that both are on your record (or will be if you plead or are found guilty) may make an early expungement less likely.

I hope that this answers your question, but if you need more information, have other questions you need answered, or feel that you need legal representation, please feel free to email me directly at [email protected]. Im happy to help in any way that I can.
