Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
PC 273.5 (Case filed out of custody)
1992/1993 Burbank city attorney filed out of custody Spousal Abuse charges against me. My then ex-wife wrote 2 letters stating that she had lied about the allegations. She never showed up for the court hearings. The city attorney dropped the charges after attending an anger management class, only because of the O.J Simpson incident.
Since then, I've become a police officer for 3 different agencies, however, some police agencies will not consider me for employment. How can I have the 2 incidents sealed from public viewing, although I was not ever arrested nor convicted of the charges?
Do I have to disclose these incidents to a future employer?
Thanks
Gil

You might be the ideal candidate for a Petition For a Finding of Factual Innocence. It's a procedure which can find you factually innocent of the charges and will show up on your record accordingly. If you'd like to discuss this with me further, feel free to email me at [email protected]. Good luck.
