was convinced of pc 422 back in 1999 i have been told that certain misdemeanor domestic violence charges will keep you from purchasing a firearm and wanted to know if this is one of them?

Could be. The U.S. Supreme Court just the other day expanded the range of offenses that can be used to deny firearm ownership based on "domestic violence.

PC 243(e) is usually what DAs charge for domestic violence crimes. However, the US Supreme Court is making it more difficult for convicted felons to ever purchase guns. Many convictions come with a 10-year period where a person who was convicted cannot purchase or own a gun and not a lifetime ban.
