Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

PC148 and PC647F1

I was arrested on these two charges above. From what the city attorney's office told me, these are misdemeanor charges (resisting arrest and drunk in public). I am to appear for my arraignment at the LAX Courthouse in about a month.

How serious are these charges? If I go to my arraignment and plead guilty, what kind of sentence am I looking at? Will this be a fine and probation, or am I looking at jail time? Please advise.

You might be looking at some jail time depending upon things like your prior record, or lack thereof, and how serious the city attorney thinks your conduct was. Do not plead guilty and do not talk to the prosecutor. You will make things worse and hang yourself metaphorically speaking. Get a lawyer to review your case. If you cannot afford a private lawyer, a public defender will be appointed for you.

If you have no prior record, negotiations of your case by a dedicated and diligent attorney could result in downgrading everything to infractions, if not better.
