Re: penaltys for contributing to a minor
If charges are filed for providing alcohol to person under 21, under Business & Professions Code 25658, a misdemeanor, the maximum penalty is 6 months in jail and/or $1,000 fine.
If prosecution is under Penal Code 272, the maximum punishment is $2,500 fine and/or 1 year in county jail.
It is very unlikely someone would get the maximum or even any jail time upon first offense.
