petty theft
My friend got arrested for stealing 5 dvds total cost $73 and was charged with a petty theft...they spent one night in jail and have a court date in 2 weeks. What are the penalties that they will face? How much will the restitution be? Please explain what will happen at the court house. It is their first offense and they have no idea what to expect. Cannot afford a lawyer either. Thanks
