Re: petty theft
Depending upon the amount of merchandise taken and the store policy, it is possible that no charges will be filed. If charges are filed the probable sentence would be home supervision, which would be done through the Arizona juvenilre department.
Retaining an attorney to represent her in court would be prudent. An attorney could make the appearances for your daughter in California.
Re: petty theft
It is vitally important to keep your daughters record clean and to avoid the consequences of being convicted if that were to happen
Best advice -Hire a lawyer.
Re: petty theft
You should involve a lawyer involved asap. Initially, it could be someone in Arizona if charges have not been filed yet. It does not seem you are looking at serious charges - lots depends on the value of the stolen merchandize - but all attempts should be made to keep the minor's record clean and to resolve the matter through dismissal or citation. A hard working lawyer here on the ground could make a lot of difference.
