Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Has pleading to disturbing the peace ruined our lives?

We had a P.D. tell my husband to plead to no contest for a charge of disturbing the peace in regards to a case which cost my husband his job with the school district that he'd had for over six years. Some of the detention kids accused him of touching them, which he didn't,(it's a very long story), he was a custodian. Now we're told that he should have an ''x-party hearing'' so he can get another job that pays enough to support us. We've been told that he doesn't pass a security check. I'm not sure what exactly has happened to us. Help, were hungry & tired and did nothing wrong.

I doubt pleading to disturbing the peace has cost you your life. This should have been a misdemeanor and isn't very important. Once your husband has completed the probation period have him go in and ask the clerk for a form to apply under either Penal Code Section 1203.4 (or maybe it's 1204.3) to have the plea withdrawn, which allows him to anser that he's never been convicted of a crime. Right now it's a tough time to find a job. However, I owned a janitorial business for several years, and used high pressure water to clean the workbays of car dealerships. So I know there's work out there for people that are willing to work hard. We would do $2,000.00 plus worth of business on a weekend for very long days on Friday night, Saturday and Sunday.
