Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
Police and CPS doing nothing
I reported a man that I know was doing inappropriate things to his 9 yr old daughter when he lived in the home. She confirmed this to the police and CPS and asked to not have to spend the night with the father. Nothing was done. No arrest, no keeping the daughter away overnight, nothing. Why? There is currently a custody battle going on but only the father initiated it, saying he wants sole custody of his daughter. That shouldn't matter since the daughter confirmed the allegations, should it? She's old enough to confirm, right? I read the CPS report that says they wanted to continue investigation but couldn't because of the district attorney. What does that mean? They have more power like the judge. What can I do to continue to press charges or get them or someone to do something? I'm not willing to let this go. I want to go to someone higher up but I don't know who or how to go about it. I gave the police a copy of the CPS report and that detective said that the district attorney took over and dropped everything. Again why? Please help me and this little girl who confirmed this. We are in a small town where money talks. There has to be something I can do.

Re: Police and CPS doing nothing
What is your relationship to the girl? Was her mother informed of the charges? If you believe that corruption was involved the FBI has jurisdiction.
