Can the police department hold a vehicle longer then 72 hours on an evidence hold if you were not driving the vehicle when it was taken and had nothing to do with the crime taken place prior to the person being pulled over?

If the vehicle is relevant evidence in a criminal case, they can hold it until a judge tells them to give it back.
I don't understand what you mean by, "had nothing to do with the crime taken place prior to the person being pulled over."
There is no 72 hour rule on evidence. Do you have it confused with the psychiatric hold on a 5150 commitment?
