Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
Police want to record phone conversation with suspect
I recently went to the police to turn in some stolen merchandise I unknowingly bought second hand. I turned in documentation of receipts and email conversations we have had. However, they now want me to call him and record the conversation. The suspect knows that the police contacted me and where I live. The suspect has tried to call me. I do not want any part of this anymore. What should I do in regards to the suspect? What should I do in regards to the police?

Re: Police want to record phone conversation with suspect
Tell the police that the seller has contacted you since you talked to them, and that you do not want to make the telephone call. If the seller makes further attempts to contact you notify the police department.
