Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
Possesion of Marijuana
I was recently detained by the police and found in the possesion of 2 grams of marijuana, I received a citation and a court date. My question is, do I have to report this misdeameanor to my current and/or future employers? I asked a police officer for santa clara county, where the offense took place, the same question and he said yes, that I do have to report it. Was he telling the truth, or do I only have to report a felony.

Re: Possesion of Marijuana
The answer to this question depends upon the nature of your job, whether you have a contract of employment or not, and many other factors. NEVER take legal advice from a cop. Period. I would consult a criminal lawyer in your town to discuss this before I disclosed anything to anyone. Good luck.
