Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
possession H & S 11357b
When you receive a notice from the court that if you pay the fine by a date and the citation is cleared does that mean it is over. My son just turned 18 and was caught with marijuanna which was less than 1 joint and says he needs to pay the fine by 5/7/2007 and it will be cleared. He is 18 and he wasn't driving and didn't have a drivers lic at the time. Now he does.

Re: possession H & S 11357b
An HS 11357b defendant has nothing to lose by demanding a jury trial and going through the trial process. The max fine is $100 plus penalty assessment of $150 or so, and they can't give you more than that no matter what.
