Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Went with private attorney but now have no representation

I went to see the judge on an under the influence of a controlled substance. In court i declined the public defender and was ordered to find private council. I tried contacting my attorney but i could not reach him. What is the judge going to say when i show up without legal council?

The judge will either grant you more time to retain a private lawyer (it will not hurt to explain things to the judge and ask for additional time), or he will force you to get a public defender. If you get a public defender you should be able to substitute in a private lawyer later in the case, if you still want to retain a private attorney.
