Re: Probation

The result would depend upon the state in which the person was on probation, why the person was on probation, and the terms of probation. In California for some offenses the court place the person on informal probation. On informal probation the probationer is not required to report to the probation department. The only requirment is that the person obey all laws, and in some cases there are restrictions on the driving privilege. If there was a violation of probation, the usual result in that when the probation officer becomes aware of the violation, notice of a hearing is mailed to the probationer. If the probationer fails to appear at the hearing a bench warrant is issued. Therefore if there is no bench warrant there is probably no violation of probation.
