Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Possible Probation Violation?

Hi.

I was in havasu for memorial day and got caught drinking underage with an alcohol level of 0.07 and was put on 1 year probation in Arizona. I recently got caught stealing $60.00 worth of product from a retail store, which I know was wrong and I was fool for doing it.The merchant theft occured in my legal residence of California. Would this violate my probation in Arizona? How does this work?Is there automatic jail time? This is my first offense for stealing and the only thing on my record is the Arizona incident. I appreciate any advice or knowledge of possible outcome. Thank You.

Re-ask your question, specifying that it involves an issue of AZ law, and maybe an AZ lawyer will answer you. You might also want to say in your question what the terms of your AZ probation are.

In the meantime, you have a huge problem with a theft charge in CA, and you had better get a good lawyer in your area before the charge becomes a misdemeanor conviction and seriously messes up your life.

Re: Possible Probation Violation?

There is a good chance Arizona would not find out about the California case. I would worry more about not ending up with any theft conviction. Get a lawyer involved to have the case dismissed or reduced to an infraction. Having a theft conviction on your record will complicate your future chances of finding employment. I would avoid it at all cost.
