Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
Psycho in our neighborhood
There is a woman in my neighborhood who has vexed, assaulted, and even battered the people of our community. She lives next door to me and purposely tried to flood my basement b/c I wouldn't sell her my house. She's thrown papers in my face and sprayed me with a hose. Her son has threatened my son. She calls the police, city inspectors, anything to harrass. Right now she is in a lawsuit w/ her ''good'' son, trying to steal his property. She has filed fake police reports against him and his girlfriend. She has cried to police and said she fears them, tho we have seen her instigate them. No one believes them. Her lover attacks people for her. She illegally evicts tenants that don't speak english & know their rights. I've been afraid to report her b/c she'll just do more. She's called my home ''hers'' once. Witnesses have seen her break into property. No one will speak out. Is there some way to make her pay for her crimes?? Is there a law that can interviene if we all come forward? Can we as a group meet w/ the city attorney and get something done? Many people have witnessed her crimes but no one has made reports. Please help us- this woman is evil and will stop at nothing.

Re: Psycho in our neighborhood
The correct way to deal with neighborhood nuisances and psychos who own property is for a group of people to sue her in small claims court for $5000 each, all at once. You file all at once and have the hearings scheduled for the same day. Assuming you win, you then have the sheriff auction off her real estate to pay the judgments. See nolo.com for good books on how to sue in small claims court, since you are in 90012 you can find these books at the L.A. County Law Library (across the street from the 111 hill st. courthouse). Good luck and let me know how it works out.
