Public knowledge of bail bonds

Is it public knowledge to find out who posted someone else's bail to get out of jail?

Sometimes this info appears in the court file (available at the clerk's office) or can be requested from the sheriff under the California Public Records Act. But anybody can pay cash at the jailhouse, or to a bail bond company. And nearly any lawful transaction can be kept private by using a lawyer as an intermediary.
