Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
I purposely cut myself, then told the police someone broke in and stabbed me. I later told them the truth. Can i be prosecuted. I'm 18, and still in High School with no criminal or other record.

Yes. You made a false police report, which diverted police resources and thereby endangered the public. You also probably put the accused through quite an ordeal. That doesn't necessarily mean you will be prosecuted, but the risk is very real. You should get a lawyer ASAP and stop talking about your case with anyone else.
Mr. Hoffman is right but I doubt you will be prosecuted if you told the police the whole truth. I strongly urge you to get mental health counselling as soon as possible. If you can talk to your parents, your doctor, or your school guidance counselor about it they can help you get counseling. If not you may call the nearest Suicide Prevention Center. If you do not know the number you should call 1-800-Suicide.
