Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
Question Regarding Sentence
I am 20 years old with no priors and was charged with one count of PC 476a(a), Passing an NSF Check, approximately $4,400 worth of NSF checks. I retained a private defense attorney and he had me plead no contest and I was sentenced to three years formal probation with 250 hours of community service and full restitution to be paid.
Is this a good plea deal or sentence he was able to get for me or not? What is typically the sentence for this type of charge?

Re: Question Regarding Sentence
You wrote over four thousand dollars worth of bad checks and your attorney got you a deal that included no jail time, just community service and restitution?
Without knowing more details about the case, I'd say you did well to avoid a stint in jail.
