How do we get the police report prior to a readiness hearing?

If you are the defendant and you have a lawyer, your lawyer can ask for it in the general discovery request that is made at the beginning of the case. Usually, the District Attorney gives the Attorney of record the police report at the first court date. If you are representing yourself, you are still entitled to the police report, but depending on the crime, it may be redacted of some information.
