Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
I just received a letter from the office of the city attorney, carmen a. Trutanich, city attorney. That a criminal complaint has been filed charging me with a violation of section P487a,
Grand Theft. I must appear for arraignment in deprtment 101 of the superior court of california, Van nuys Ca on april 23. I know what I did and was terminated from my recent employer in February 2010. They had me arrested without notice and when arrested/handcuffed I was not read any rights. They put me into the squad car and took me to the North Hollywood police station. I was there for maybe 30 minutes and they said that the detective told them to release me and that I was free to go. I have not seen any paper work from my previous employer for what they are claiming. Although what I did was wrong. ($360.00) in merchandise, I had some of the items in my vehicle in which they did not want. Please advise on what I should do, as I do not have much money remaining since losing my joband denied umemployment and having to pay my federal tax and property tax. I do not have a lawyer, what should I do

If you have no money, and are unemployed, hire the Public Defender. Public Defender represents people like you.
Borrow the money for a lawyer from a relative. If you don't beat this charge you won't work again.
