Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
I received a ticket for using a fake i.d. for trying to get into a 21+ dance club (I was not cited for being under the influence, I was merely trying to get into a club and not trying to buy alcohol) cited for: 25661 B&P and 14610 (9). I am wondering if there is anything I can do to get this reduced and what I should do at my court date.

Business and Professions Code 26551 is a minor with false proof of age. It is a misdemeanor which carries maximum fine of $250 or up to 36 hours of community service.
If convicted of this offense, your drivers license will be suspended for one year. It doesn't matter whether you were trying to buy alcohol or not.
Vehicle Code 14610(a)(3) is using another person's drivers license. Is is a misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail.
You should definitely have an attorney to represent you in this case. If you can't afford to hire your own attorney, go to your first court date and ask the judge to appoint the public defender to represent you.
Please understand that this is a general discussion of legal principles by a California lawyer and does not create an attorney/client relationship. It's impossible to give detailed, accurate advice based on a few sentences on a website (and you shouldn't provide too much specific information about your legal matter on a public forum like Avvo, anyway). You should always seek advice from an attorney licensed in your jurisdiction who can give you an informed opinion after reviewing all of the relevant information.
