Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Hello, I recently build a Super10 (commercial vehicle). The truck was already mine, and the box I bought was apprerantly stolen. The ORIGINAL OWNERS are my co-workers. From what i've heard The husband had a piece that was broken off, and he had the piece at home, he went to the yard and checked to see if it matched, and it did. So, he called the detectives/insurance to tell them he found his box. Not sure what he wanted to get out of it. But they (first owner/detective) took a couple of trips to the yard in hopes of catching the truck parked. Eventually they did and the truck was towed away.I have the proof of purchase, a signed letter of the amount I payed ($9,000), before and after pictures, receipts of parts I purchased to convert it into a super10, paint job , rims and tires. My truck was parked on a private property (yard at work) and a detective with no warrant/or my consent towed it away and impounded it. A couple of days later two detectives come to my house , and I was very helpful in giving them names(of the person selling me the box) , address (of where i first seen the box) and copies of everything I had. Even the name and address where I had converted my truck into a Super10. One detective was from a different county, and he was there because he had a open case of stollen trucks-- he said i was a victim on all of this-- I asked My county detective if I was going to be charged for the impound-- "he said he would try to figure something out"-- because my truck is in the impound Im loosing money. -- he mentioned he would speak with the insurance to see if they could work with me, so I would have to pay much. It's been a month, the detective ignores my calls and messages. I haven't heard from the insurance. So, this past week I tried calling someone in a higher position then the detective, and that surely catched his attention. He called back, gave me an attitude , I mentioned that I'll get a hold of someone to get this cleared, and he said that he knows that i've already tried and It has taken me nowhere. I asked about the impounded charges, and he said that he never mentioned anything about helping out with the charges. Also, I asked for the first owners insurance number, he wasnt trying to give it to me, until I told him he was holding back my rights to that information. I called the insurance, and they said they thought the detective had already given me back the truck. It's a mess! Please help.
