Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

I recently learned that I have been charged with grand theft in CA. I have now found out that the Deputy DA has removed themselves voluntarily from the case. What does this mean for my case and my charges?

Without more details, it could mean several things.

It could be that the individual DDA had a conflict of interest. Either they know you, a witness, the victim, a cop involved in the case... something like that.

Again - hard to say without knowing all the story. Discuss it with your attorney.

It appears from your description that the deputy district attorney has declined to proceed with prosecution of your case. Either another deputy district attorney will be appointed to prosecute your case, or the state attorney general will appoint an attorney to prosecute your case. It is unlikely that this indicates that your case will be dismissed.
