Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
I recently saw a movie about a mass child sex abuse case and I found myself very confused at the end when the verdict was read. This made me curious about California laws on sexual abuse of preschool aged children. What are the legal terms and their definitions? What are the penalties? Also, can Aggravated Assault be a sex crime? Thanks in advance for the answers.

You're asking for information that could fill a book.
You can start by looking at California Penal Code 290, which lists the offenses that require sex offender registration.
Penal Code 288 and the sections that follow list most of the serious charges for sexual abuse of young children.
