Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
i have recently been paroled to a county i don't live. I was given a piece of paper on one day saying i was paroled to my home address and my mother. the next day i was given another paper saying i was paroled to moreno valley, calif. where i don't live. I thought my lawyer was to solve this issue during the time before i was sentenced but it wasn't. i was able to get to the office on monday after being paroled on sat,as instructed, about 200 to 250 miles. i explained to the officer of the day, the situation. The officers at the parole office said they started the paperwork to transfer me but i'm afraid it could take several weeks if not months and i am hoping my lawyer could do it faster but he doesn't seem to want to. he told me he didn't know the judges in this county and to find a lawyer in this county. Is this issue a part of the original case and my lawyer needs to work on this.

Unless your written agreement with your lawyer specifically provides he will be helping you with post-conviction issues, including dealing with parole, I doubt he/she is under contractual obligation to help you at this point. Not too many lawyers help their clients after conviction and sentencing. As far as how parole system works is concerned, often there is not much they can do anyway.
