Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

can I re-open my case?

I have foolishly plead no contest to a lesser charge of Domestic Violence (non-felony). Approx. 5 months after I entered my plea I got another lawyer to represent me and request that my case to be re-opened. The judge denied my request, Am I able to request again to have my case re-opened?

Re: can I re-open my case?

Chances are if you want to ask the same judge to re-open the case, just with a different lawyer present, you will not succeed unless you have some strong new grounds for your request. A simple change of mind, buyer's remorse that is, is generally not sufficient to re-open.

Contact me if your reasons for wanting to re-open are immigration related. Such case would require special handling.
