Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

you have the right to be represented by an attorney

I have been to court 19 times so far on a under the influence of a controlled substance charge and each time I have been to court I have made it clear to the court appointed attorney and the court that I do not want diversion I want to go to trial. I accept this might be stupid, my question is at what point is my attorney supposed to listen to my version of what happened and stop telling me I am stupid. If he would at least hear my side and then tell me I am stupid maybe I could understand. I just had court yesterday and he started yelling at me. I would like a different laywer but the Judge said I would have to hire one and he would still have to be ready for trial by tuesday. That is less than I week. I cant afford one and I thought if you couldnt afford one that one would be appointed to you to represent you, but all he does is tell me I am going to lose. Is that all my ''rights'' entitle me to? Is that how a person is represented in a court of law when they are poor?

Re: you have the right to be represented by an attorney

Your statement indicates that you are not listening to your attorney and the court. It appears that you will get your wish on Tuesday and there will be a trial.
