Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
Residency
My husband was sentenced to California state prison, I came out here for support during the sentencing process and I would like to stay for a little while so that I can get some visits in with him. My home state is Wisconsin. I graduated this past year in pre med my goal is to go to medical school. He will be incarcerated for roughly 3 years here. If I stay here and get a job for a while, how will that affect the interstate compact residency requirement for him to apply to transfer to Wisconsin. Is there a time period that would be to long or that I would lose my Wisconsin residency. If I stayed for 7 months then went back home would he still be eligible to come there if accepted?

Re: Residency
Sorry your husband is incarcerated. It will be 3-5 months before you are able to visit him. Tell him to send you a visiting application as soon as he has the opportunity. I don't know the answer to the rest of your questions.
