Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Restrainig Order

My boyfrindhit me once and went to prison. that was 10 years ago. Two years ago he slapped me and I told him I didn't want to live with him until he cleaned up his act. He did and I live with him now. My mother ha a conservatoship and my brother ho is hr financial conservator wants to get a restraning order against my boyfriend so he cannot be around my mother. Can he do this? My boyfriend has neve dne anything to my mother. In fact, he doesn't have a mother and thhinks of her as his mother. Now my sister and my brother are saying my mother can have no contact with my boyfriend. I'm afraid they will get a restraiing order against him and this will ruin his all ready troubled life. Please advise. Thank you.

Re: Restrainig Order

it sounds like you seriously need to get a new boyfriend first and foremost, rather than make "excuses" for him. as far as the restraining order goes, your family is well within their rights to file for one against this "troubled" individual if they feel they or their household is in jeopardy of harm, especially based on his past record for violence. you might want to support your family here at least until your boyfriend takes serious steps in cleaning up his act once and for all, if possible.
