Can I get a restraining order against my live-in boyfriend if we're both on the lease? His drinking is getting out of hand and the police have been called in twice now because of his violent behavior.

Yes. The restraining order would include an order that he move out. Also ask that he continue to pay rent until the end of the lease. Contact an attorney or the local spousal abuse help center. Act quickly for your safety.
