Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Rights

Hello. I have 3 questions. 1) I was on House Arrest and my case manager never had me sign a financial obligation form. Do I still have to pay the money? I already paid but I wanted to know if I should have. 2) My House Arrest ended on 04/13/2002 (Saturday) but they had me keep my monitor on until Monday because they're closed on Saturday. Is that considered to extra days and do I get compensated for that. I was allowed to leave but I was still monitored. 3) When on Probation if you don't have a job and can only afford to pay a certain amount and can't afford to pay what they're telling you, will you go to jail? or can you pay what you can afford?

Re: Rights

1. You owed the money (sans a written agreement) and you paid it. Which makes you one of the good guys. 2. Don't know all the facts. But from your question it sounds like you could have left the house on Sunday, wearing the bracelet. So what's your gripe? 3. Don't know if you used a private agency or went through the county program run (probably) by the county probation department. With an outside agency whatever contract the county placed on them would have to be paid by you. You had the choice of three hots and a cot. And passed it up for the (dis)comforts of home. So check with agency and the county to see what the contract and/or law says. There's no state wide law other than permitting the procedure. The procedures are all set up by the county. Orange County gave up their probation run program when the county went into bankruptcy.
