Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

When searching data base for case records I'm unable to find specific charges filed against defendants, only case numbers. Background: when someone from 30+ yrs. ago, that was the first close, dear relationship for both of us . As we were getting reacquainted over the phone, a certain individual from her past, who was physically abusive has now started stalking her and harassing her with threatening text messages, showed up at her residents. Being that he has history of arrests and served time for a wide range of charges against him. thought it would be wise to lookup prior judgements against him and all I could find were case numbers w/felony and more, but am unable to see what law, ( charge-crime ) that the courts filed. How can what he was charged with be found?

That information isn't available online does not mean it isn't available at all. That's especially true of older cases, since converting paper records into online data isn't a very high priority for many courts. You may need to have someone go to the courthouses where the cases were processed and look at the records there. It's also possible that the info is available online but only via services that charge for access.

Good luck.
