Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
Sentence Release Date
My son has been in the CA Prison System for 5 yrs for robbery. He had papers showing his release date of 2/05 during this time. The beginning of this month he received a paper with a sentence correction to 9/2007. He has worked so hard since he has been in prison and we were looking forward to the 2/05 release date. Why/how could he have been given a wrong release date all this time with it just now being corrected? It just doesn't seem right or fair to me. Thank you for an answer. From my sons mother.

Re: Sentence Release Date
It is neither fair nor is it right, but unfortunately the prison seems to work that way. He should either submit a written request or retain an attorney to request an explanation of this change in release date.
