Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

The sheriff dept. recently impounded my car when the person I loaned it to was arrested while driving it. Now the are saying that the my car will be held for thirty days even though it was legal and insured. This is clearly a revenue generating scam and I need to know if its legal or not. The person I loaned the car to has not been convicted of anything yet, and I certainly have"nt. Please help me before I cant afford to pay the fee. ( which is what they are hoping for) thank you

We're conveniently leaving out the reason the driver was arrested, aren't we? Did this individual have a valid driver's license? Did you ask to see it before you lent your vehicle?
